about

Rebirth, like so many of the songs we've been working on, happened completely by chance. I was listening to Metamorphosis in reverse (don't ask me why I do this.... it's a thing I just do with every song I make, haha) and noticed some really lovely and interesting patterns that are nothing like the stuff you hear in this song though... still it inspired me to start it.

I decided to check out the old project and changed a lot of things around, cut some stuff up, changed instruments and added some junk and these things. I also reversed the pattern of the main melody and then decided not to continue working on it... lol. My workflow is truly something else.

After a few days I showed it to Jordi and as always when I show my music to Jordi (especially the things that are just experiments or stuff I never intend to work on further) it ignited that spark of inspiration in me. I don't know how he does it but he always draws out the best in me and motivates me to go further with my funny little experiments. I went back to the project after he told me he thought that it sounded great and slowly but surely this song was reborn~ ahaha... sorry. My puns are bad, I know. Jordi makes some really good ones though ;D

Unlike Metamorphosis, which funnily enough is actually a song about some childhood fears (really) this one tells a completely different story and it's very interesting to see how reversing a song lets it shine in a completely different light and becomes something so... relaxing and ethereal.

It still has that rhythm Metamorphosis has (which is the part that's closely related to the theme of the song), especially around the middle but it's slower, still it retained the same kinda weirdly, captivating and bouncy energy the original song had but without the story behind it. One day I'll tell you the story of Metamorphosis. If you're interested.
